Jadestone Energy has announced the successful drilling and start-up of the second well in its 2026 Malaysia infill drilling campaign, with the well currently producing approximately 2,800 barrels of oil per day (bopd). The announcement follows the successful completion of the programme’s first well, which reached a peak production rate of around 3,200 bopd.

The second well, EBA-07ST1, was drilled approximately 13 percent below budget and features a 930-metre horizontal reservoir section at a total measured depth of 5,473 metres. Located on the East Belumut field, in which Jadestone holds a 60 percent interest, the extended-reach well is the longest drilled on the field to date, exceeding the first well in the 2026 campaign by 600 metres.

According to the company, the well also achieved a 4.1 extended reach drilling (ERD) ratio, setting a new Malaysian record for extreme reach drilling and highlighting Jadestone’s in-house drilling capabilities.

Following the positive results of the first two wells, Jadestone confirmed that it proceeded with drilling a third contingent well. Drilling and completion activities on the third well have now been completed, with production results expected to be announced at a later date.

Commenting on the results, T. Mitch Little, chief executive officer of Jadestone Energy, said the first two wells had increased production from the East Belumut field by more than 150 percent, equivalent to approximately 6,000 bopd. He added that the results demonstrated the company’s ability to unlock additional reserves and maximise value from mature assets by developing opportunities overlooked by previous operators.
