Argentina LNG, an integrated liquefied natural gas (LNG) project being developed by YPF, Eni and XRG, has submitted an application to participate in Argentina’s Large Investment Incentive Regime (RIGI).
The application marks a significant step in the development of the proposed large-scale LNG export project, which is designed to leverage the substantial natural gas resources of Argentina’s Vaca Muerta formation.

The project is planned as an integrated LNG value chain covering upstream gas production, transportation and processing infrastructure, as well as offshore liquefaction and export facilities.
As part of the development, two Floating Liquefied Natural Gas (FLNG) units are planned offshore Río Negro province, with a combined liquefaction capacity of approximately 12 million tonnes per annum (MTPA).
The submission of the RIGI application represents a key milestone ahead of the project’s Final Investment Decision (FID), which is targeted for the end of 2026.
Argentina LNG is intended to combine the capabilities and expertise of YPF, Eni and XRG to develop Vaca Muerta’s gas resources and establish a competitive LNG export platform capable of supplying international markets.
The project would integrate gas production with transportation, processing, liquefaction and export infrastructure, creating an end-to-end LNG supply chain centred on Argentina’s growing natural gas resources.
