The partnership of Open water Management and Iridium Technologies provide a range of advanced, high strength, composite repair solutions for cold applied repairs of leaking and non-leaking defects associated with the critical infrastructure of; up and down stream pipework, transmission pipelines and storage tanks found within the oil, gas, petrochemical, nuclear and water industries.
The Open Water / Iridium team have decades of combined experience for the design, manufacture, supply and certified installation training of composite repair solutions.

Utilising both glass and carbon based fabrics with a range of in-house manufactured resins, repair applications to systems with operating temperature between -55C to +550C are possible. All products are 3rd party tested and approved in accordance to industry standards and typically available for ex-works shipment.
Within our global operations, repairs have recently been designed and installed for a major oil distribution terminal critical for the supply and distribution of crude oil throughout Central Europe.
Multiple repairs have been installed, all designed in accordance to ISO24817 (2017) and with a 5 (five) year design life. Located during the terminals planned inspection regime, in all instances the corrosion was internal with the applied carbon based repair length and thickness calculated for all defects becoming through wall during the lifetime of the repair.
Pipe diameters were 20 and 22”, between 3 to 6 Metres in length and up to 40bar operating pressure, all at ambient temperature. All locations are classified as complex geometries including bend and “T” locations.
Following a SA2.5 grit blast surface preparation, each repair was installed within a 3 hour time frame, at reduced pressure and then returned to MAOP following QA/QC checks of the cured repairs the following morning. The repairs were installed utilising a local fabric maintenance contractor trained and certified by Open Water Management staff.
For these repairs, significant time and cost savings were obtained by the operator due to keeping the terminal in operation and without the need of a shutdown/rescheduling which would have been needed to permit “hot work” for a welded sleeve to be applied or a cut and replace of the corroded sections.
