HyFive Advances HyMet Musel with Rotterdam Storage Agreement and Second Offtake Contract

Three months after announcing a term sheet covering offtake of up to 50% of production from its HyMet Musel e-methanol project, HyFive has confirmed two further milestones that strengthen the project’s commercial and downstream position.

A route to market via Rotterdam

HyFive has signed a Letter of Intent with terminal operator Evos to explore storage and handling of e-methanol at the Port of Rotterdam. The agreement extends beyond logistics: it marks a step toward establishing a downstream presence for HyMet Musel in the ARA region, an area increasingly positioned as a hub for alternative marine fuel bunkering and a base for heavy industry.

Through the partnership with Evos, HyFive is laying the groundwork for infrastructure capable of serving ARA-based customers, while contributing to the wider growth of renewable methanol supply and the decarbonisation of shipping.

A second offtake agreement

Building on that downstream momentum, HyFive has also signed a second term sheet, this time for 10,000 tonnes per annum of e-methanol with a customer in the ARA region. The new agreement brings total contracted volume from HyMet Musel to 60,000 tpa — 60% of the plant’s annual nominal capacity.

Validating the project

Together, the two developments mark a significant endorsement of HyMet Musel’s market positioning. Located on Spain’s Atlantic coast, the 100 ktpa e-methanol project combines scale, technical robustness, a strategic location, and strong infrastructure access — qualities increasingly attracting the confidence of leading industry players.
