IRDA Delegation visits Pengerang Deepwater Terminals as Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone Gains Momentum

A delegation from the Iskandar Regional Development Authority (IRDA) recently visited Pengerang Deepwater Terminals (PDT) in Johor, Malaysia, as part of the authority’s ongoing engagement with key regional stakeholders.

Hosted by Pengerang Terminals Sdn Bhd (PTSB), the visit provided IRDA representatives with an overview of the scale and capabilities of the Pengerang terminal ecosystem and its role within the region’s growing energy and industrial infrastructure.

Exploring Pengerang’s terminal infrastructure

During the visit, the delegation toured the Pengerang Independent Terminals, gaining an insight into the facility’s operations, infrastructure and approach to terminal management.

The wider Pengerang terminal ecosystem encompasses several facilities and businesses associated with Dialog Group Berhad, including Pengerang Terminals Sdn Bhd, PITSB, PT2SB, Dialog Terminals 5 and Dialog Langsat Terminals.

The site visit highlighted the infrastructure supporting the storage and handling of energy products and the importance of safe, reliable and sustainable terminal operations to the region’s industrial development.

Strategic importance of Pengerang

The engagement comes as Johor continues to strengthen its position as an investment and industrial hub through the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ).

The development of the JS-SEZ is expected to encourage greater economic cooperation and investment between Johor and Singapore, while strengthening connections across sectors including manufacturing, logistics and energy.

Against this backdrop, Pengerang’s deepwater terminal infrastructure represents an important component of Johor’s wider industrial and energy ecosystem. Its location and established terminal facilities provide infrastructure capable of supporting regional supply chains and energy-related activities.

Continued stakeholder engagement

The visit also reflects the importance of collaboration between infrastructure operators and regional development authorities as Johor’s industrial base continues to expand.

PTSB highlighted the value of continued engagement with IRDA and other stakeholders as the region develops, with cooperation focused on supporting sustainable economic growth and strengthening the capabilities of the local industrial and energy infrastructure network.

With the JS-SEZ gaining momentum, Pengerang is positioned to remain an important part of Johor’s efforts to attract investment and develop its role as a regional centre for energy, logistics and industrial activity.
