Portable Truck Access Ladders

Bullard Company’s PL series of Portable Ladder with Platform is a cantilevered, adjustable portable truck access ladder designed to roll up tight to a truck or railcar, while also having the ability to “reach over” the man-way area. These units are used for loading, unloading, inspection and sampling applications. Our design offers several features listed below.

  • This unit can be used in very tight spaces and has a wheel base of only 2’9″ x 6’11”.
  • The stationary base unit is designed with eight grip strut treads, positioned on 70 degree angles. At the top of the base unit is a 16-1/2″ x 24″ work platform.
  • The upper platform is a spacious 48″ x 24″.
  • Access to the upper platform is through the use of a 4-rung vertical ladder that telescopes within the base unit.
  • Tires are 8″ semi-pneumatic swivel casters on the front and rigid on the rear. Other wheels are available.
  • For added stability, once the unit is rolled into position, leveling jacks are extended and lowered to provide a firm and stable base while in use.
  • Finally, vertical adjustment is with a manual break winch. As an option, a hydraulic cylinder with a manual rotary pump can be supplied with the unit.

Custom units are also available. Our ability to design-to-spec allows us to arrange or modify various standard units to meet your specific needs.

Mobile Access Platforms

Bullard Company introduces the most innovative design for Mobile Access Platforms in years. Why settle for the second best? This versatile platform provides unprecedented mobility for any application. The “MAP” makes access at remote sites or congested racks cost efficient and safe. Until now, portable platforms were farm style wheel bases with a platform mounted on top that requires a truck to tow it into position. The “MAP” series platforms can be electric or as shown above, powered with a dual– fuel or diesel motor.

The designs offer several features as follows:

  • Operation is via a moveable joy stick console.
  • Drive base as small as 30” wide to 7’10” wide , twin-pump-powered 4WD for greater performance.
  • Powered by electric, dual fuel or diesel motors.
  • The “MAP” 7-12 has super wide 33” x 15.5 tires for traction and adverse site conditions.
  • Select models have a 3500 or 7000 watt auxiliary generator.
  • One touch leveling jacks for quick setup on the MAP 7-12.
  • Two speeds for precise positioning of the gangway, .5 mph for movement to the next operation or when a faster speed is needed, 3.5 mph.
  • Lower storage deck between the motor and ground control/hydraulic side compartments.
  • Ascending or descending the upper level is with an alternating tread stair.
  • Upper platforms are 7’ wide x 10’ long on the MAP 7-12, 2’6” wide x 6’ long on the MAP 2.5-6E.
  • Access to the truck or railcar is with one of our B400 or B500 series gangways and safety hoops which can be hydraulically positioned with the joy stick console controls or manually positioned.
Access Platforms

Bullard Company designs, builds and installs custom Equipment Access Platforms to provide safe operator access to valves, controls, equipment, etc. Materials of construction include carbon steel and aluminum. Fiberglass grating can also be incorporated into the design when needed.

Here are several key features designed into each of our access platforms:

  • Designed to comply with the governing OSHA standards. Serrated bar grating is used on decks and grip strut grading on stair treads for non-slip surfaces. Handrails with mid rails and toe plates add to the fall protection qualities.
  • All assemblies are manufactured and assembled by our certified welders. Each welder is certified to the American Welders Society, AWS D1.1 code.
  • Optional finish coats include: standard red oxide primer, powder coat finish, or hot dip galvanizing.
  • Platforms can be assembled by your plant maintenance personnel with the aid of assembly drawings.
Fixed Ladders

Bullard Company’s fabricated Fixed Ladders are an excellent solution to the safety issues presented while climbing on loading platforms, storage tanks, loading docks and various other applications where a standard access stairway is not an option.

Our standard fixed ladders are manufactured from carbon steel. Ladders higher then 20′ come with safety cages per OSHA regulations. We can design any style of ladders to fit your needs.

Below are several features designed into our Fixed Ladders and Ladder Cages:

  • Structural side members and ladder rungs are designed for the maximum load bearing capabilities under the OSHA standards.
  • Stand-off brackets ensure that operators have adequate room for a good foot hold.
  • 1″ diameter rungs for ease of ascending or descending our ladder systems.
  • A variety of finishes are available from the standard red oxide primer to hot dip galvanized.
  • Safety cages are designed to OSHA specifications with flared bottom opening for ease of entry.
  • Stand-off platforms are available for ladders that exceed 30′ for compliance to OSHA. Directional cages are available for ladder systems that exceed 30′ in height and require a stand-off platform.
  • Optional security ladder guards as well as ladder gates to prevent unauthorized use of caged ladder systems.
