px Group awarded operations and maintenance contract for New Providence LNG Terminal in The Bahamas

px Group has been selected by New Providence Gas Limited as the operations and maintenance (O&M) partner for the liquefied natural gas (LNG) import and regasification terminal currently under development at Clifton Pier in New Providence, The Bahamas.

The multi-year agreement covers the commissioning, operational readiness, and long-term operation and maintenance of the facility, further expanding px Group’s presence in the Americas and adding a strategically important LNG asset to its international operations portfolio.

New Providence Gas Limited is a joint venture between Shell, which holds a 40 percent stake, and Sun Oil Limited, a subsidiary of FOCOL Holdings Limited, which owns the remaining 60 percent.

The Clifton Pier terminal is being developed to receive, store, and regasify LNG for supply as natural gas to power generation facilities on New Providence. The infrastructure is designed to diversify the island’s fuel mix, enhance energy security, and provide a lower-emission alternative to the fuel oil and diesel currently used for much of the island’s electricity generation.

Under the agreement, px Group will support the project through its commissioning and operational readiness phases before assuming responsibility for the terminal’s ongoing operations and maintenance. The company’s scope includes developing operating procedures, implementing safety and maintenance systems, and establishing the technical capabilities required to support reliable long-term performance.

To deliver the contract, px Group has established px Bahamas, a locally incorporated operating company that will oversee the terminal’s day-to-day operations. A plant manager has already been deployed to New Providence, and the company plans to recruit Bahamian operators, technicians, and other skilled professionals as the project advances toward commissioning and start-up.

The establishment of px Bahamas reflects the company’s approach of combining international operational expertise with the development of a locally based workforce. The initiative is expected to support knowledge transfer while creating long-term employment opportunities in The Bahamas.

FOCOL Holdings Limited highlighted the importance of operational expertise and local capability in ensuring the terminal’s long-term success. The company noted that the combination of experienced infrastructure management and a skilled Bahamian workforce will be key to delivering safe, reliable, and consistent terminal operations.

The appointment further strengthens px Group’s growing portfolio across North America and the Caribbean, where the company provides commissioning, start-up, operational readiness, engineering, asset management, and operations and maintenance services for energy and industrial infrastructure projects.

With the Clifton Pier LNG terminal, px Group establishes a long-term operational presence in The Bahamas while supporting the development of infrastructure intended to improve the country’s energy resilience and expand the use of natural gas within its power generation sector.
