TEPSA Netherlands marks first rail loading of sustainable aviation fuel

TEPSA Netherlands has reached a significant milestone in its Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) operations with the successful loading of its first rail tank cars at its Netherlands facility.

A total of 40 rail tank cars were loaded with SAF, marking an important step in the development of a more sustainable aviation fuel supply chain and expanding the company’s capabilities for SAF handling and distribution.

The milestone was achieved through collaboration between TEPSA Netherlands, its business partners and the teams involved in the operation. The company said the successful loading reflects the expertise and commitment of everyone involved in bringing the project forward.

The operation was carried out in accordance with the EI/JIG 1530 guidelines, supporting the safe and consistent handling of aviation fuels throughout the supply chain.

The first rail loading represents a new chapter in TEPSA Netherlands’ SAF activities and highlights the growing role of logistics and storage infrastructure in supporting the aviation sector’s transition towards more sustainable fuel solutions.

By enabling SAF to be transported by rail, the milestone adds another logistical capability to the supply chain and demonstrates the importance of coordinated infrastructure and industry collaboration as demand for lower-carbon aviation fuel continues to develop.

The achievement provides TEPSA Netherlands with a foundation for further participation in the evolving SAF market, while contributing to broader efforts to support more sustainable aviation.
