Zuidnatie expands terminal by 40.000 square metres

Zuidnatie is expanding its operations in the Port of Antwerp with the acquisition of a new 40,000-square-metre concession previously operated by Somex, reinforcing its long-term growth strategy and increasing operational capacity.

Located opposite the company’s South Terminal, the new concession is set to undergo development works from 1st January 2027. The expansion comes as Zuidnatie’s existing South Terminal approaches its operational capacity, providing much-needed additional space to support current and future business activities.

During the initial phase, the new terminal will be used for non-water-related logistics operations, including the handling and storage of containers carrying a diverse range of cargo. The additional space is expected to enhance operational flexibility while laying the foundation for further logistics development.

According to Managing Director Stéphanie Feys, the expansion represents an important milestone in supporting the company’s continued growth and strengthening its ability to meet the evolving needs of both existing and future customers. She added that Zuidnatie intends to invest in several state-of-the-art warehouses at the new location as part of the site’s long-term development.

Over the coming years, the company plans to transform the concession into a modern logistics hub featuring expanded warehousing capacity and value-added logistics services. The investment reflects Zuidnatie’s long-term commitment to growth, operational excellence, and business continuity while further strengthening its position as a key logistics provider in the Port of Antwerp.
