A contract has been signed between both parties for the development of a sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) plant, a facility that represents an important step in the decarbonisation of the aviation industry. The plant at Chemie Park Delfzijl is expected to begin production in 2028, producing approximately 100,000 tonnes of sustainable aviation fuel per year. The fuel is made from waste and residual streams, such as used cooking oil, and can reduce CO₂ emissions by up to 80 percent compared to fossil alternatives.
